Macromedia is the dominant player in the Internet and CD-ROM authoring software tools business. The Macromedia Dreamweaver platform (which integrates Macromedia Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver UltraDev and Fireworks) enjoys a 70% market share and a community of more than one million developers using and extending the products. Adobe has been unable to achieve the same success with their web design software GoLive. Adobe's expertise suffers in the area of web authoring.
